Multiply the bill amount by the tip percentage divided by 100. For example, an 18% tip on a $50 bill is 50 × 0.18 = $9, for a total of $59.
Add the tip to the bill to get the total, then divide the total by the number of people. The calculator shows the per-person share rounded to the nearest cent.
In the United States, 15% to 20% of the pre-tax bill is customary for table service, with 18% a common default. The calculator includes presets for 15%, 18%, 20%, and 25%, or you can enter any percentage.
